Delete your data from Symphonia social connections.
How to remove what Symphonia holds when a parish connects a Facebook Page, Instagram account, Threads account or Bluesky account, and what happens when you do.
1. What Symphonia holds about a connection
When someone in a parish connects a social media account to Symphonia, we keep:
- The name, picture and handle of the connected account, and the permissions that were granted.
- The access key the platform gave us, encrypted with the parish’s own key. For Facebook, Instagram and Threads we never see the account password.
- The number Meta uses for the person who made the connection, so we can act when Meta tells us that person removed Symphonia.
- The posts the parish published through Symphonia, with the counts the platform reports for each one.
We do not read or keep comments, private messages or follower lists.
2. Remove Symphonia from Facebook, Instagram or Threads
Instagram accounts are connected through Facebook, so removing Symphonia from Facebook ends both connections.
- Facebook and Instagram. In Facebook, open Settings and privacy, then Settings, then Business integrations. Choose Symphonia and select Remove. To have your data deleted as well, open the Removed tab on the same page, choose Symphonia and send the deletion request.
- Threads. In Threads, open Settings, then Account, then Website permissions. Choose Symphonia and select Remove.
Meta tells Symphonia as soon as you do this. We delete the access key straight away, stop every post that was still waiting to go out, and tell the parish that the connection has ended. When you ask for your data to be deleted, we also remove the account’s picture and handle from Symphonia, and Meta gives you a confirmation code.
3. Remove Symphonia from Bluesky
A parish connects Bluesky with an app password made just for Symphonia. In Bluesky, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then App passwords, and delete the one made for Symphonia. Symphonia can no longer post from that moment, and the parish sees that the account needs reconnecting.
4. Disconnect inside Symphonia
Anyone the parish allows to connect social media accounts, usually the rector or an administrator, can open Settings, then Social accounts, and choose Disconnect. The access key is deleted at once and nothing more is posted to that account.
5. Ask us to delete it
You can also write to us or email hello@symphonia.church and name the account. Because the parish is responsible for its own records, we let the parish know, then delete the connection and its access key. We answer within one business day.
6. What stays afterwards
Posts that were already published stay on the platform until the parish, or you, delete them there. The parish’s own record of what it posted stays in its Communications history, without any access key. Everything else Symphonia holds is covered by our Privacy Policy.
7. Checking on a request
If Meta gave you a confirmation code, the deletion it refers to has already been done: Symphonia carries out these requests the moment Meta sends them. If you have a question about a code, write to us and include it.
